May 3, 2014 In the midst of heavy rains for the last several days which produced area flooding, the rain relented and the skies brightened just as two gracious young ladies from Crawford Custom Meats of Lake Butler pulled up to the Food Pantry unloading zone. Three dampened FP volunteers scurried out and helped to carry six coolers of beef and pork donated by Waste Management.  This meat was purchased at the cattle auction in April at the Clay County Agricultural Fair. After  weighing and unloading, the meat was placed  into the pantry’s freezers. This generous donation topped off both freezers with pork sausage, ground beef and steaks — a welcomed addition that will be much appreciated by the pantry’s clients this coming week. After sharing a bit about Lake Butler, the drivers accepted the Food Pantry’s thank you, cold drinks, and snacks for their journey home.
